Photo engraving is a process of engraving that applies photographic methods. The most common method of photo engraving is when a photosensitive material that is resistant to acid is applied to a metal.

This material is known as a photoresist. Once applied, parts of the metal are hardened by light shown through a photographic negative. After removing the unhardened parts by washing the material in a solvent, the photoresist develops. Finally, an acid is used to dissolve parts of the metal.

Applications for photo engraving include nameplates, plaques and souvenirs.

Safety Precautions

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND FIRST AID:

**WARNING:
  • Work with adequate ventilation.
  • Wear protective gloves, and clothing.
  • Wear protective goggles.
  • Test with a small piece of object on or into the etching chemicals before the process.
  • Repeat the etching chemicals for reused. No water or chemicals should be added to the etching chemicals. Stir or shake the chemical before used (follow the instruction).
  • The supplier is not liable for any injuries or damages occurred during the process, should the user is not followed accordingly to the precautions / first aids and instructions as provided.
  • Keep out of reach of children – Not intended for use by children.
** Skin Contact: Cause burns, wash with soap and water for 5 minutes
** Eye Contact: Cause burns, flush with water for 15 minutes
** If Swallowed: Drink large quantities of water, followed by milk. Do not induce vomiting. Get prompt Medical attention.
